Garrucha

Garrucha is a lively fishing town. It is quickly becoming a popular place to live, one of the reasons being due to it's stunning beaches of soft sand and palm trees. The beaches are manicured daily to ensure some of the cleanest and safest town beaches in the province. The beaches of Garrucha stretch for several kilometres.

The main source of income into Garrucha is the fishing industry. This is the reason why Garrucha is famous for it's quality of seafood and here you will find a selection of the best fish restaurants in the area all providing you with fresh fish supplied by the port. The fishermen spend all night fishing, then later they auction off at the local fish market. Garrucha has three ports, the marina, the fishing port and the commercial port.

The town is also popular with the Spanish tourists who flock to it from the north of Spain in the summer.

The "Virgin del Carmen" and the Parish Church - "Church de San Joaquin" are two buildings of interest. The festival of "Virgin Del Carmen" takes places on 16th July. The fishermen pass the chapel in a spirited procession bearing the "Virgin Del Carmen" on their way to the sea.

A pleasure of Garrucha is to take a leisurely walk along the attractive promenade The "Paseo Maritimo" which is lined with palm trees and a wonderful railing of white marble. Whilst you are enjoying your walk alongside Garrucha's famous golden sandy beaches , you can make your way along to the "Club de Mar" which is about half way down the "Paseo Maritimo". Here you will find an array of restaurants, tapas bars, and pubs dotted about, you can take a break from your walk and enjoy a drink and a bite to eat.
