This is Spanish for Solicitor. Home & General Properties will introduce you to an English speaking Spanish solicitor should you require it. They will organise all your legal requirements including searches on the property to be purchased and also handle all the payments on behalf of the purchasers. Of course you are free to use a solicitor of your choice.

Home & General do not have any obligation or financial ties to any of the

solicitors we recommend.

The Escritura This is the title deed. As in Britain, the title deed shows proof of ownership and contains a detailed description of the property. Where a resale property is involved the title deeds will show details of the properties history and recent ownership(s).
Notary This is a public official and witnesses the signing of all documents relating to the sale of the property.
Land Registry This is where all the title deeds are registered. Both the title and any charges against the property can be checked here.
Hacienda This is the Spanish tax authority, equivalent to the UK Inland Revenue.
Power of attorney The buyer usually attends meetings with the notary in person. If this is not possible then a person can be given power of attorney and attend the meetings on your behalf. This is usually a solicitor.
